Pastor Joe & Alissa Serratelli
Lead Pastor
Pastor Joe grew up in the next town over. In highschool, he was your prototypical jock but as he went through college began to question his purpose in life. Athletic achievements were no longer satisfying and he searched for purpose until he stumbled upon Jesus. He surrendered his life and his dreams of being a big time executive and eventually accepted the call on his life to become the pastor that he is today. Alissa came to know Jesus in her twenties, she has a powerful story of how God rescued her from a life of drugs and abuse and was loved by the body of Christ until she came to know His love for herself.
Pastor Joe and Alissa have 3 kids; Scarlet, Thea and Harlin. Pastor Joe is also a highschool teacher here in Manchester. Together they enjoy leading Building on the Rock, discipling leaders and diving into whatever God brings their way. They have set an example for us to follow by how much they are willing to sacrifice in order to not only SEE another miracle but to BE one.
Pastor Chris & Laura Tonra
Associate Pastor
Pastor Chris and his wife Laura came to Building on the Rock on the verge of divorce and financial ruin. They committed their lives to Christ over a decade ago and their family was restored here at BOTR. They love serving together and are passionate about family restoration. They now have been married for 20 years and have 5 children both biological and adopted; Katie, Joseph, Angel, Jose, and Skylar. They have enjoyed the challenges and opportunities that being foster parents has brought them and enjoy opening their home to others. They have been an example to many by their willingness to walk with people through difficult and trying situations, sharing the hope that they themselves found in Jesus so many years ago.
Pastor Bob & Val Nash
Founding Pastor
Pastor Bob and Valerie surrendered their lives to Christ in 1996. They walked into the church and have never left. Through the church, God began to put their broken lives back together again. They have 9 kids and then some! They enjoy traveling and being apart of ministry together. Team building, church development, and spirit led leadership are areas they step into while leading the churches in Manchester and Manahawkin. Their family is currently leading the team that was sent from BOTR to Manahawkin to redevelop a hurting church. They have set a precedent for us all with their willingness to say “yes”. Instead of hiding behind excuses, they have been a living example of what it looks like to step out to where God is moving no matter how impossible it may look.
